Abstract

"In the Lazaros Koundouriotis Historical Mansion, the branch of the National Historical Museum (NHM) in Hydra, the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece presents the exhibition “Raiment of the Soul” featuring works by artists, photography by Vangelis Kyris and embroidery by Anatoli Georgiev. Island costumes of the 18th and 19th centuries, which are some of the most representative of the NHM’s costume collection, are photographed worn by people of today. The works of the creators, printed on canvas and embroidered with gold thread and yarn, add another dimension to the costumes of the museum’s collection, highlighting the high aesthetics, which were not influenced by the four centuries of Ottoman rule. "
