Abstract
The programme of the Parents’ School–Open University of Katerini for 2020–2021 includes talks by distinguished speakers to mark the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution. Academics, hierarchs, politicians, doctors, etc., from America, Russia, Greece, Cyprus and Mount Athos illustrate with their research aspects of the epic struggle to liberate Greece from Ottoman rule. The eleventh and last event is dedicated to Greece. The deputy minister states that the current goal is to continue the glorious historical path of Greece with the values and ideals of the fighters of 1821 and presents the programme of the current armed forces to deal with a possible enemy. Then the metropolitan analyses the reasons why Greece is considered a treasure and for that it was much loved. Many admired its beauty, its climate and its wealth. He emphasises its enormous value and considers it a blessed place.
