Abstract
This presentation seeks to approach and enlighten, to the greatest extent possible, the issue of financial resources, a precondition for the operation of the naval fleet that took part in maritime operations throughout the Greek Revolution. For this purpose, data from primary archival sources, particularly the financial records of the “Koinon” of Hydra of this period, were used and utilised. These archival items allow us to establish with sufficient accuracy the various sources and the amount of contributions towards the fleet, the participation of the community in the various expenses, the occasional and partial inputs from the central administration and finally the total claims for war compensations for Hydra from the government.
