Abstract
Talk by His Eminence Panteleimonos, Metropolitan of Veria, Naoussa and Kampania, within the framework of the series of talks on “Blood of Martyrs and Heroes” marking the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution. The 12th talk focuses on the the Philiki Etaireia. The metropolitan first mentions the attempt of militant groups from the 18th century to spark the revolt of the Christians of the Balkans against the Muslims and ends up in the most organised effort of all, the Philiki Etaireia, which had as its mission the liberation of the Greek nation. He presents its founders, its action and its goals.
