Abstract
The event, with the title “On the road paved by our ancestors: Sailing to Freedom” will take place on 6 June 2021 in the sea area of New York City and will end at the Statue of Liberty, which will culminate in the symbolism of the message of the fighters of 1821, who set freedom as the supreme asset of the Greek nation, finally achieving what seemed impossible. During the celebrations, dozens of sailboats and boats decorated with Greek flags and symbols of the Greek Revolution will make an impressive voyage, thus highlighting the navy’s contribution to the success of the struggle but also the primordial relationship of the Greeks with the sea.
