Abstract
A poem inspired by the death of Markos Botsaris, the then student and then national poet of French-speaking Switzerland Juste Olivier, who won with this poem the first prize in the poetry competition on Renascent Greece announced by the Academy (University of Lausanne) in 1825. The poem received such an enthusiastic reception that it was finally published in Lausanne in 1826.
